Sympathetic and effective guidance to help you find a balanced route to separation

Finding The Fairest Solution

There are several alternatives to court for divorcing couples, and for many people they can result in a more positive and less expensive outcome than the court process.   Your solicitor can help you identify which one you think will work best in your situation.  You might favour:

  • A private agreement made between yourself and your partner and then ratified by us and your partner’s solicitor.
  • Mediation, where one of our trained, experienced mediators helps you both to work out the details of your agreement together, in conversation. You will be helped to compile all the necessary details and your mediator will keep the discussion focused, calm and fair, helping you and your ex-partner to find the fairest and most satisfying solution.
  • Negotiation, where we put your wishes forward to your partner’s solicitor and they respond, until we have covered all the points and reached a final agreement. This avoids a personal confrontation, if face to face communication is not working for you.
  • Collaborative divorce, where you and your partner sign an agreement stating that you will not apply to the court. We then meet together with your partner’s solicitor and talk through the matters to be resolved to come up with the best solution possible for all concerned.  The Collaborative process gives all parties an incentive to succeed, as neither we nor your partner’s solicitor can act for either of you if one party opts out and decides on going to Court instead.

Working out the best way to move forward for you and your family will give you support, control and stability in your process, so come to us as early as possible.
