Employment Disputes

Pragmatic, supportive advice and strong representation for all employment disputes

Early Advice

Are you an employer with some sort of dispute with an employee? If so, the best advice we can give you is take early advice. Speak to us at the outset before you do anything. Taking advice at this stage can possibly solve the dispute then, stop it spiralling out of control and stop it potentially costing thousands. Take advice from us at an early stage and we will help you mitigate the situation.

Advice Along the Way

If it is not possible to stop a dispute early on, it may rumble on with the employee causing problems and you may need advice along the way. We can guide you through that and do so with many employers. When there is a new development with the employee in the dispute speak to us and we will go through the options with you and help you decide the best course of action to take.

If the dispute becomes a formal legal dispute with the Employment Tribunal or Court being involved we can formally represent you and assist you. Or you may decide you wish to represent yourself and we can give you advice in the background. There are a number of options available for representation and we will find the right solution for you.

Employment disputes however can be a nightmare and divert valuable time and resources away from running your business and you will never regret taking advice at an early stage with a view to nipping the dispute in the bud.

Are you an Employee?

Are you an employee with a dispute of some sort against your Employer?  Employment Rights and obligations are a mine field and you may need legal advice on your situation.

Disciplinary Proceedings

It may be that you are currently subject to disciplinary proceedings and are worried whether these could result in termination and how you should approach matters. It is worth getting legal advice at this early stage, if only to speak to us on the telephone. At this stage, there is still the chance of saving your employment or securing the best possible settlement, so we will help you limit the damage and protect your position to the best degree. We will concentrate on what you hope to secure and try to help you achieve that outcome.

Understanding Your Options

Perhaps matters with your Employer have progressed such that you have been dismissed and you feel unfairly treated. We can assist and advise you in whether you have a claim against your Employer and if so how to pursue it. There are strict time limits so you cannot afford to delay. Contact us to seek independent legal advice straight away and we will guide you through the options.

You may have a dispute whilst in employment with the way you are being treated, your wages or other employment related matters. You may be unsure how to go about raising this and require advice and assistance. Again, contact us and we will be able to look at the options with you and assist you in pursuing the one that is best for you.

Unlawful Discrimination

You may feel that you are being discriminated against on unlawful grounds. Employers are under a duty to treat everyone fairly and equally regardless of individual characteristics. There are complex legal principles and advice is crucial. If you feel that you are being discriminated against then seek advice and again we will assist you in looking at whether you have a claim and how it could best be pursued.

In certain employment disputes, we may be able to act for you on a Contingency Fee basis which is effectively a No Win No Fee basis where if you do not win your case and do not receive any compensation then you will not need to pay us, but if you do win your case, the costs would be deducted from any compensation you receive. This may make pursuing an employment claim affordable for you.

Preserving Relationships

At Parnalls, we have the experience to look at the bigger picture for you in your employment situation. Sometimes it is best not to enter into a dispute or continue a dispute with your employers but to preserve the employment relationship. We would not advise you to enter into a dispute if it was not in your best interests to do so, but if a dispute is inevitable, we will fight your corner as hard as we can.
