The property market in England has re-opened. Under special conditions, estate agents can now open, viewings can be carried out and removal firms and conveyancers can restart operations.
Throughout the crisis, Parnalls has remained fully operational and our Residential and Commercial Property teams are well prepared to handle all types of property related enquiries, with special protection measures fully in place.
The re-opening of the property market will be good news for those involved in the 400,000+ residential property transactions that were put on hold by the lockdown.
Housing Secretary Robert Jenrick told the BBC that the changes must be carried out under social distancing and safety rules. In practice, this means that Estate agents are likely to introduce some or all of the following measures to protect staff and clients:
- agents wearing PPE during viewings
- the completion of health declarations prior to viewings and appraisals
- limitation of viewings to buyers in a position to progress a purchase
- limitation of viewings to vacant properties (or at least where the current resident is not present)
Extensive Government guidelines have been published for those seeking to purchase, sell, rent or move home.
As ever, our team has been working hard to ensure our full compliance with the guidelines and we are now able to progress the property matters of clients.
