Roger Parnall, Grandfather of Mark and Jonathan Parnall, was a Fighter Controller and reached the rank of Squadron Leader and later Acting Wing Commander. He started training in Lincolnshire and his first posting was at North Weald in the early 1940’s, after which he moved on to Hornchurch. He was then posted to Malta in around 1942, but just before the famous Ohio Multi-Convoy got there. He flew there from Portreath to Gibraltar, probably in a Hudson, from Gibraltar to Algiers and then onwards to Malta. He moved on to Sicily after the invasion and later up to Foggia. Apparently Roger was liked by the pilots because he had the clearest voice. Roger of course was a Solicitor, Senior Partner here at Parnalls and Clerk of the Court.
We will remember them
